UK Fire & Smoke Modelling Forum
Forum Objectives
- To provide a free, dialogue / discussion driven platform in the UK for researchers, practitioners and AHJs to discuss matters relating to fire and smoke modelling;
- To be inclusive of relevant fire modelling applications, as deemed appropriate by the steering committee, e.g. CFD, zone modelling, novel applications of BIM and / or evacuation modelling would all be considered;
- To provide a vehicle for practitioners to engage with researchers (and vice versa), such that the state of the art can be understood and research informed by the needs of industry;
- Via the presentation of case studies and novel applications, discuss, establish and promote best practice regarding fire and smoke modelling;
- Where practicable, to provide informative guidance, principles and practices for robustness in modelling;
- To develop an archive of technical resources via the storing of presentations on an open-access website;
- To engage approvers and provide resources that allow for effective reviews of modelling proposals and results; and
- To provide a frequent source of informal CPD for engineers, where opportunities are currently limited.
